The Genesis lineup gives you more models to choose from, although unlike the Spirit II, there are no two-burner models. As before, there are two sides tables to give you more space to cut and season your meat. In addition, some of these grates are reversible between the thin side or a wide side. You can use the thin side for fish or other delicate meats and the wider side for steaks and similar cuts. These transfer heat very well and maintain sturdiness and rigidity even after many different cookout sessions. Both of these areas are warmed by two burners that can emit 26,500 BTUs of heat combined.
Hands-on time, reviews, and availability concerns led us to dismiss grills from lesser-known brands like Huntington, along with well-known names like Cuisinart and KitchenAid. And the Cuisinart and KitchenAid grills appear to be afterthoughts next to their respective brands’ main areas of expertise, with materials and design to match. The Weber Spirit SX-315 Smart Grill is the smart version of our pick, the Weber Spirit II E-310.
The Weber Genesis E-325s puts out more heat per square inch than our pick, and the main grate has a 20% larger cooking area. Weber also redesigned its expandable upper warming rack, with bars that run front to back (rather than side to side), so it’s easier to slide a spatula under the food. Instead of porcelainized cast-iron cooking grates, the Genesis E-325s has a grilling surface made of thick stainless steel rods (these won’t make a huge difference in your grilling results). Like our top pick, the Genesis E-325s has a cast-aluminum firebox and an enameled steel lid and frame.
It features two side shelves, two large burners, and the Wi-Fi-enabled SureTemp controller for precision temperature control. It also has a large warming rack, two locking casters, and two regular wheels. Both Weber and Nexgrill have garnered the attention of BBQ enthusiasts with their offerings. While some factors in both the grills work on similar lines, as the size of cooking spaces, grease management system and infrared technology, some things set them apart too.
It adds another four inches of grill space, which means eight burgers instead of five. In terms of portability, the entire grill weighs 10 pounds, making it ideal for throwing in a trunk or the back of a truck for camping, tailgating, or a trip to the beach. Our only gripe is that there is no way to lock the lid to the base, making it more difficult to carry.
Scrape any buildup off the deflection panels or bars using a plastic scraper. Next, use a stainless steel brush to clean the burner tubes under the heat deflectors. Finally, check out the inside of the cook box and scrape away any debris or residue that can cause flare-ups.
And yet its grilling surface is big enough to cook a complete meal for a family or a dozen burgers for a party. (Weber’s warranty covers all parts for a full decade—among the best coverage in the industry.) For decades, the company has refined the Spirit’s design, too. This version includes an easily accessible externally mounted propane tank and an under-grill shelf. On top of all that, this grill is particularly easy to assemble, maintain, and use, and its finish comes in four colors (black, white, red, and blue). As we tested this over the course of two weeks, it rarely had any faults. The 513 square inches of cooking space was consistently even in heat, with some slightly hotter temperatures observed directly over the burners.
It was a little rusty, the access door and legs anyway, but appeared to be in excellent condition otherwise. Beginners will quickly be able to learn the correct damper positions in order to achieve a consistent temperature, as we did. We observed off readings and ended up relying on a secondary thermometer. Two aspects we didn't like weber charcoal grill are the smaller hood can translate to too-high heat when kept closed, and the built-in thermometer was consistently inaccurate. You'll want to make sure you have a second thermometer on-hand and be prepared for a small learning curve. This one doesn’t, nor did any grill in our test group, so you’ll need to buy one separately.
Weber wisely designed the lid handle with a metal heat deflector that prevents the handle from warming up to burn-inducing temperatures. There’s also a section of the cooking grate that hinges upward, which makes it easy to add additional charcoal in the middle of grilling. It’s the largest of Weber’s kettle grills with a cooking surface that is 22 inches in diameter, which means users weber charcoal grill can load more charcoal into it, giving it the ability to reach higher temperatures. Our heat test recorded temperatures approaching 900 degrees Fahrenheit with standard charcoal briquettes, which is notably hotter than the Premium’s smaller cousins. About 200 square inches of cooking space is suitable for one to two people, while 450 square inches is a good size for a family of four.
Both times we've tested it, the assembly has been short-and-sweet, and moving it into place was a breeze. From there, it turned out pork, burgers, steaks, chicken, veggies, and even grilled pineapple with fabulous results. The key to using the Q 1400 successfully is to wait a sufficient amount of time for the grill to come to temperature.
